iOS utilizes a multi-touch interface that uses simple gestures to operate the device, such as swiping your finger across the screen to move the next page or pinch your fingers  To zoom out. By the way, more than 2 million iOS apps are available in Apple's App Store to download. Apart from this, Apple App Store is a very popular app store for any mobile device.

Steve Jobs first released a new operating system for the iPhone in 2007.  He called it "iPhone runs on OS X", although it was a different version of Mac OS.  Their idea was that the iPhone should depend on web apps that behave like native apps.

What is an Operating System and how is iOS different from other Operating Systems?

If we understand in simplest terms, then there is an operating system which lies between your (user) and a physical device (machine).  It interprets commands of software applications and provides access to apps that have features of the device such as multi-touch screen or storage.

Mobile operating systems such as iOS differ from other operating systems because they place each app in their own protective shell, so that apps stay away from each other and cannot tamper with each other.  This makes it impossible for a virus to infect these apps in a mobile operating system, such other types of malware do exist. These protective shells that are around the apps also pose another limitation because they keep the apps away from communicating directly with each other.  iOS however uses a different feature called extensibility, which grants approval to the app to communicate with other apps.

Can I update to iPhone 5c latest version iOS 11?
